We believe that art and music are critical to the development of an agile mind and the exercise of creativity, applied learning, and open ended exploration. Art and music require more than just technical expertise; they need imagination and spirit. At YK Pao School learning is given greater emphasis than finished products. We also emphasise a community-centered approach, so students learn to make, critique and enjoy art and music together.
Music and the arts are an excellent way to teach students values and skills such as:

- Observation and critical thought
- Oral expression
- Group work
Besides forming part of the curriculum, we offer arts and music as after-school activities. The curriculum provides students with an excellent broad education in these subjects. Students have the opportunity to explore areas that interest them further through after-school activities and projects including watercolors, recycled art, choir and string ensemble.
We also organize a range of imaginative projects and events throughout the year in music and the arts, such as public student performances, workshops with guest artists, music concerts and whole-school events, such as Arts Week.
