The curriculum for Year 1-5 is based on the Shanghai curriculum but incorporates elements of other major international curriculums.
Learning Approach
Through activity-based teaching, small group work, a varied curriculum and plenty of encouragement, we teach our students initiative, self reliance, flexibility, creativity, and leadership with a global outlook. Our students are engaged actively in the learning process, helping them to develop the natural sense of inquisitiveness towards their studies that will make them life-long learners.
Language of Instruction
Throughout the school day, students are exposed to a near even balance of Chinese and English as language of instruction. This means children develop competency in two languages, while enjoying the best of Chinese and international teaching. The school is subject based in that apart from Chinese and English language classes, all other subjects are taught in either Chinese or English. The diagram below gives more information.

Assessment
We regularly assess students' work in all subjects through unit tests and semester tests. From Year 3 all students take part in the International Schools Assessment for English and Mathematics. This compares our students with students at international schools worldwide. The assessment is in English.
By the end of Year 5, students are confident young learners, articulate and skilled in two world languages. They have learned knowledge, skills and concepts that put them abreast of their peers at other schools in China and around the world.
When students graduate from Primary School they hold a Shanghai Certificate of Primary Education and they are confident, independent thinkers, which provides an excellent base for studies at the Secondary School.
