In 2008, during the school’s second semester of its opening year, the Story Team was established at the Primary School. With the strong support of Principal Crick Chen of the Primary School, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) formed a team of Story Parents, at first mostly consisting of mums. The parents began to play a role in the classroom, which has since blossomed into a wide range of activities that support children’s learning at Pao School, such as: lesson preparation and class storytelling; leading children's discussion and interaction to drama performances; and even activities in the broader Pao School community.
The stories told by the parents help Pao School students to better understand themselves and others, learn how to care for one another, and build their teamwork skills. The stories also feature themes about environmental protection, life and death, and the establishment of one’s personal beliefs.
In the 15 years since Pao School’s inception, story parents have been an inspiration to the children of Pao School. They have served as excellent role models, and have changed the children’s lives for the better.
