Meeting an Olympian!

Volleyball

The YK Pao School community understands the importance of fostering a love for sports as well as its essential role in helping to build stamina as well as confidence in students. In this spirit, Pao School parent David Bi has begun organising and leading volleyball practices for girls in Year 3.

Focusing on basics and foundation skills that will cultivate a love of the sport as well as provide solid preparation for competitions in later year levels, the training sessions begin every Sunday morning at 10:00 and run until 1:00pm.

Determined to provide more opportunities for this group of enthusastic young players, Mr Bi reached out to former member of the Chinese national women’s volleyball team and former Olympic athlete Ms Zhu Yunying. After finding Ms Zhu's coaching philosophy to be very much in line with the school’s approach, Mr Bi arranged for Ms Zhu and her team to meet with the girls for the first time on the morning of February 28.

It was truly an honour and a rare opportunity, not only for the girls, but also for their parents, who were also moved and deeply inspired by Ms Zhu’s professionalism and coaching style.
