This Monday, representatives from Heifer International visited YK Pao School to speak with students about their Read to Feed program. YK Pao School has participated in this program for the past five years, raising funds to supply poor families with animals and technology to help them become more self-sufficient.
Students will read books over a six-week period leading up to Book Week, sponsored by relatives and friends. Donations from the Read to Feed Program in 2014 benefited the Heifer China Sustainable Livelihood Development Project of Zhaohua County, Sichuan, a project set to continue for the next five years. Last year, students visited Xuyuan villages in Xiuning County, Anhui Province, which had benefited from our donation. This year, students will visit Qingshen County in Sichuan and two children and their families from Qingshen will also be invited to visit Pao School.
