By working together, the school and parents encourage students to take part in programs like Treasure Home, with the goal of nurturing their sense of social responsibility as they actively help others and make a real difference in the community.

Primary School Deputy Principal

The Primary School, in collaboration with the Parent Teacher Association, initiated the Wan Ai Charity Fund, which began supporting a non-profit organisation called Treasure Home in 2023. Treasure Home is a charitable organisation dedicated to providing after-school programs for underprivileged migrant children. (Fulfilling Pao School’s mission by giving back to the community)

The Primary School organised a series of collaborative projects with Treasure Home over the 2022-2023 school year.  In March, the school involved Treasure Home in its Book Week and ‘read-a-thon’ fundraising book donation program. In April, the PTA organised a Spring Fair, inviting Treasure Home students to perform and interact with their Pao School peers. Student council members led these children on a campus tour and facilitated book donations and other exchanges. In May, student council representatives visited the Treasure Home station on weekends, for activities such as reading and English learning with the children of migrant workers. These experiences were later shared with other Pao students during a school assembly.

This year, the Primary School launched a new initiative to invite student representatives from Treasure Home to participate in selected school activities and lessons. These exchanges have deepened understanding, making the project more meaningful through the heightened involvement of all members in the community.

This week, 18 Treasure Home student representatives visited the Primary School, where they were divided among different subjects. In music class, they explored differences in pitch, which they investigated using a glockenspiel. In PE class, they studied dance movements of different speeds, designing movements themselves that varied with the rhythm of the music. In English class, they were gathered into groups to work on picture description tasks. In the library class, they read about the construction of the Great Wall by Emperor Qin Shi Huang and then exchanged their own comments on this historical event.

In our commitment to enriching the lives of our students, the primary school has collaborated with the PTA to organise this special visit. This is a great way for our students to embrace Pao values, show compassion and extend gracious hospitality. More importantly, this experience highlights the profound impact of giving back to the community and reinforces the idea that contributing positively to the lives of others is not just a responsibility, but a privilege and a joy.
